cross off #5, partially at least

#5: give up Dr. Pepper
thank you VS fashion show.
you have officially made me feel out of shape and lumpy in all areas not including the girls and my bum.
thus in order to shed a few lbs and begin my journey to getting in better shape, i have given up DP.
i never actually thought i could do this, but thank you alessandra.
you gave me the motivation with that flat stomach and the fact that you did have a baby a year ago.
i hate you.
if you dont know who she is click this google search.
it's ok if you hate her too.
today makes a week that i haven't had one.
i didn't realize just how addicted i was to dr. pepper until this past week when i felt like i could almost taste it every time i saw a mcdons.
but hey if it means i may be able to fit into those darn jeans from high school then it's worth it.
guess i'm starting my swim suit work out now.
speaking of VS just put out their VS sneak peak.
go check it out :)

and hey i just found out theres a half marathon in march in abilene!
sign up here
i'm on my way to crossing off #6 as well.
i can not wait to complete this.
have a blessed day readers.

blessings in disguise

so I have a lot to be thankful for today...at least that's how I'm determined to look at it.
today was supposed to be a good day.
which it was, but in a not so pleasant way.
if that even makes since.
i have been randomly studying for the GRE over the last month.
i was supposed to take it today and hopefully be over with all this grad school stuff,
BUT
God had other plans :)
funny how He does that isn't it?
welp, i was on my way to chapel this morning when i decided to get myself a dr.pepper
i was in line to pay at mcdons when i hear and engine roar and i am thrown forward in my car
(thankyou Lord for seatbelts, i will never not wear mine again)
anyways, this precious woman behind me accidentally slammed on her gas instead of her breaks
i was rear ended and in turn could not make it to chapel today
BLESSING #1: nobody was hurt
not even the sweet lady and i am so glad because to be honest she was very elderly
and it would have broken my heart if she was hurt.
BLESSING #2: my car was not badly damaged
i mean yes it has some nice battle scars but it does not look like crumpled up paper
unfortunately the other lady's silver car was not so lucky
BLESSING #3: i was not in my scion tc and i now have my suv
we all know my scion wouldn't have held up so well
no offense to you scion owners, i truly loved my scion but it just was not safe
BLESSING #4: no chapel...sorry God
He knows it is nothing like church so i feel it is ok to say this.
BLESSING #5: i spent almost an hour with this lady talking about thanksgiving plans
and our families
which made me so thankful that i get to see mi familia tomorrow!

so i left mcdonalds after an hour and was trying not to fret
over how i was going to take the GRE within an hour after just being rear ended
so...i show up to the testing center
walk in, ready to get this beast over with and...
the testing center doesn't have record of my reservation for the test.
BLESSING #6: did not have to take the GRE
yes, i would have loved to get it over with
but let's be honest people, who wants to take a 4 hour test after just getting rear ended?
not me.
so thus i come to
BLESSING#7: i am going to see harry potter again to make this day wonderful

well i hope you are all having a happy monday
happy early thanksgiving
count your blessings!

am i the only one?

alrighty people, i've seen this done on other blogs
and i think it's hilarious
before you read this, i must warn you
you may not think of me the same way after this
but i'm convinced im not the ONLY one who does these things
hopefully
right?
welp here we go
am i the only one who...

1. looks at the daybook blog once every hour just to see if there's a new post?
and sits in front of the mirror for hours trying to do my hair like hers?

2. looks in my kleenex after i blow my nose every time? i know i know gross
but once i blew my nose and my snot was blue so now i always have to check the contents
and no, i don't know why it was blue, but it was literally the color of blue kool-aid
i thought it was kinda cool
tmi? sorry

3. never goes to an 8 a.m. class with makeup on or my hair down?
unless it's "straight from bed" ready
which is very rare

4. hates icing...yes i said it. I HATE ICING.
unless it's cream cheese icing.
all other icings are way too sweet.
makes me tummy hurt

5. smells new food before i try it.
i can always tell by the smell if i will like it or not
if it smells bad, you can't pay me to try it

6. goes through a box of kleenex every two days.
thank you allergies.

7. it takes me at least an hour to paint my toes?
i swear i look like a kindergartener trying desperately to color in the lines.
it is so difficult sometimes!

8. cares about kojie football more than i will ever care about
the cowboys or the texans?
i mean i do care about these two teams but kojies takes precedence every time.
sorry boys.
ko.jo.kai til i die
or at least til i graduate.

9. can't cry for happy moments?
i feel as if i am not a complete girl since i can't do this.
trust me  i've tried...
very hard in fact.
but nope i just laugh hysterically.
i think it's because being happy makes me want to dance.
and i already blow my nose too much on a daily basis,
why make myself blow my nose even more?
my mom says this will change when i have kids.
i have my doubts.

10. isn't afraid of needles, but i have nightmares of getting an epidural someday?
like bad nightmares.
ones that i wake up breathing hard and feeling like
i need a shower cuz i have just sweat my entire body weight.
i must admit this is really weird.
you can give me shots or take my blood any day but NEVER a huge needle in my spine!

11. holds my nose when i brush my tongue after brushing my teeth?
it's called gag reflux people
i promise it helps

now it's your turn to comment on your "am i the only one" statements!
hope you enjoyed!
have a blessed day!

ER visit

So i have this best friend named Alex
but everyone calls him "shoe"
one thing i love about him is that i can count on him for anything
well this weekend was the moment i was called to return the favor
you see shoe got in a little accident and broke his hand
guess who took him to the ER?
Me! :) and i must admit it was actually kind of fun!
here is shoe before seeing the doc
this was the verdict
can you see the break?
so...they gave shoe vicadin
obviously painkillers make him reallllyyy happy
sorry it's sideways
he also noticed the latex gloves on the wall
he used them to channel his inner michael jackson
i say "them" because he broke about ten gloves trying to put them on
apparently its a hard feat to do when your hand is broken
imagine him doing this while making the  high pitched "hee hee" sound effect
I was rolling on the ground
in the end we got him all fixed up and were home by 4:00
a.m. that is
it only took us 3.5 hours :)

oh and our nurse was pretty awesome
his name was shane and he was pretty cool
so if your ever at Hendrick in the E.R. you should request shane
all in all shoe was a very brave boy :)
Kathy, his mom, would have been so proud
i know i was :)
try not to break anything this week!

kojie retreat

2 blogs in one day?
is that legal?
if not it is now :)
last night i got the privilege to go to the annual kojie retreat.
originally i wasn't gonna go because the boyfriend was coming to visit!
(i know i was pretty excited too)
but......he got sick
thats right he got the fever, stuffy head, runny nose, head rockin, nose burnin, exhausting CRUD
i.hate.you.crud.
so needless to say he is spending his weekend in houston resting.
did i mention i.hate.you.crud?
screw the crud.
sorry.
anywayzzzz, since plans changed, i got to go to the retreat. :)
we went to cicis (which is neck and neck with mr.gattis for best buffet ever)
it's completely ok if this picture makes you hungry.
happens to me every time.
well i got to spend another fabulous night with my girls.
cuz lets face it, kojies know how to have a good time
unlike others who will not be named
*cough siggies cough cough*
jk
if you've never been to cicis, you can't go without getting a killer tattoo
temporary tattoo that is.
mine was the "heavens" tattoo.
we didn't put them on at cicis though.
frankly, its more fun to put them in trashy places to go along with their trashy design.
i.e. lady lumps
it's girls only boys...sorry.

after our lovely feast at cicis, we went to try our turn in a little gymnastics.
needless to say i was a tiny bit excited.
gymnastics my old friend, it was good to see you.
i still got it girls.
at least on the tramp that is.
tramp is short for trampoline if you didn't catch that.
i guess if you didn't know that then that statement would sound rather crude.
hahaha...sorry im laughing at myself again.
unfortunately, my poor body is so beaten from gymnastics, i couldn't do much more than trampoline tricks without feeling like an 80 year old.
you think i'm joking.
im not.
so after my five minutes of reliving my dream of going to the olympics, i enjoyed the rest of the night acting like a goof.
pretty much what i do best.
begin meg + kinsey potoshoot.
it would have been better if we hadn't kept falling off.
not to self: regain awesome balance skills.
the rest of the time was spent goofing off in foam pits
showing off awesome dance moves
singing ridiculously old songs...
that reminded me of elementary school.
and enjoying acting like a kid again.
which really is a daily part of my routine but shhhh don't tell.
here's a few pics
so yes. to answer your question, it was so much fun!
i love all these girls.
and it was so good knowing that i still got it.
"it" referring to my tumbling skills.
thank.you.jesus.
now go act like a kid.
i promise you'll enjoy it :)

The Bun: a difficult little doozie

well, if some of you don't know already, i'm a little obsessed with this blog called the daybook
her name is sydney and she is simply splendid.
anywho, she posted a tutorial about how to master the bun
dun dun dun
nobody should be surprised she pulls off this look perfectly
it's kind of disgusting how awesome her style is
actually it's kind of disgusting how much i look at her blog everyday
not to self: find something more productive to do
ok well i personally have never been able to pull off the bun without revisiting my gymnastics days
oh the days of gel, hairspray, bobby pins and scrunchies
the days where i made sure my hair was glued to my head and no bump was noticeable
the days where my bun was on the very top of my scalp and it literally did not budge
i think i could walk through a hurricane and no hair would be shaken
It was like a beacon, my dad could always pick me out of a crowd due to my enormous bun
i was like the snookie of the bun world
or pauly d
whichever you prefer
unfortunately, my amazing bun talent isn't in style anymore
rather, it never was in style i just simply thought i was hot wearing it...
a hot mess that is.
so today i revisit those days and attempt to wear a bun
this time not so tight or glued down
let me know what you think?
can i possibly pull this off and feel a little cooler due to the fact i improved my "sydney style"?
here take a looky
yes? scuse the cleevy...my b
trying to channel my inner sydney in the side view
don't make fun...i know i failed at the awesome pictures
sorry syd
welp let me know what you think
that is all three of you amazing followers
haha
i love you guys
peace and blessins, peace and blessins

Veteran's Day

Today is Veteran's Day and it is common on this day that two very special men come to mind.
My precious grandfathers.
I hold so much love for both of these men and am so blessed by them
They both served our country and I am so thankful that the Lord allowed me to have such
honorable men in my life.

Meet Grandad
Grandad is the epitome of so many things: love, sacrifice, honor, hard work, and generosity.
Those are just a few.
He has sacrificed so much in his life for his family.
He puts everything he is and does into loving our family and caring for us.
I love my Grandad so unconditionally and am so thankful for him.
I love my Grandad for calling me every birthday and telling me he loves me.
For taking me to dinner or lunch every time he is near Huntsville.
For instilling in me the hard work ethic he has instilled in our whole family
I love my Grandad for sitting with me and telling me stories of the war and of his childhood.
I love my Grandad for calling me just to see how I'm doing.
He has made my day so many times throughout the past 22 years and I am so blessed by Him.
He faught in the Korean War and sacrificed so much for our country.
It is truly a miracle he is here today and I thank the Lord everyday for Him
So Grandad,
Thank you for all you are.
Thank you for fighting for our country and for being the Christian role model you are for our family.
Thank you for bringing so much happiness to my life and to our family.
I love you and I always will.

Meet Poppop
He brings so much joy to my life.
He is the epitome of patience, a servant heart, simplicity, love, and kindness.
He is a very quiet man but his actions speak volumes.
His thoughtfulness and caring personality astounds me.
He will help any one in a heartbeat.
It doesn't matter what I do in life, even if I disappoint him, I know my Poppop will always love me.
I love my Poppop for showing me the importance in the simple things.
He has taught me how to be thankful.
I love him for his servant heart.
(just 3 weeks ago I was only in town for one day and he surprised me by washing my car...and
on a sunday. You see sunday is a day of rest for my Poppop but he still serves
others no matter what day it is)
He truly is an amazing man.
Poppop,
Thank you for your loving words and meaningful hugs.
You make my day by coming to visit me in Texas.
I know I don't get to see you much but when I do, I savor those moments.
Thank you for being my Poppop.
I love you so much and always will.

So to all of you who know veterans, call them up today and thank them.
I promise it will make their day.
I know I am so thankful for all of those who serve our country in some manner.
minus Obama...jk...even Obama...sometimes
Happy Veterans Day!
-K
p.s. i know i know...i need current pictures
so NO i did not dye my hair.
I went through a "black hair is cool phase"
blonde is better in my opinion
no offense to you ladies with gorgeous black hair.
xoxoxo

Cross off #2!!!

IRATION CONCERT

Well I did it! I crossed off the first thing on my 22 for 22 list!
I went to a concert on a school night :) and in dallas. What can i say? i like to go big or go home.
A concert on a school night wouldn't have been the same without the 3 hour drive there and back.
Yes, I know. I'm a dedicated fan and the trip was SO WORTH IT!
As the hawaiians say, I was "vibing" all night long.
I went with one of my good friends Edris.

He's a great travel buddy...until he falls asleep for half the way back at 2:00 in the morning.
haha sorry ed. but seriously he is so fun to hang with!
Anyways, the concert was so ridiculous!
Two bands opened up for Iration. One was galled The Green.
They were so great and I loved being introduced to this awesome band.
They have some great songs and I hope to one day see them again in concert.
The second band was called The Movement.
They were eh...different.
I'm sorry if your a fan, I mean they do have talent but I felt like they tried to combine
reggae with heavy metal slasher music.
For some reason I don't ever see that working.
But good luck to you boys.
Finally Iration came on and I was in heaven.
They put on such a good concert and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat!
If you haven't heard of Iration, you MUST look them up.
They have some amazing songs.
Here are some of my favs:
- Falling
- Electricity
- Time Bomb
- Turn Around
- Wait And See
- Cookie jar
- With You

Some of these songs are actually playing on my blog right now! :)
Get excited.
A few pics from the night:
I was so close to the front and I had one of those moments where I knew I'd remember this night forever.
Aren't those moments awesome?
Some people have them with their bf/gf (which I do that too) but I happen to also have them at concerts.
mmmmm...i love concerts.
Anyways, these guys are so talented and their music can always put me in a good mood.
So yes, the cat is out of the bag.
I am madly in love with reggae music.
Don't worry, Geren already knows this and he patiently puts up with my tiny obsession.

And did i mention I got to meet the band?
I now have a ballin poster sitting on my desk (until i get it framed and hang it on my wall cuz i already have the perfect place picked out) with their signatures on it.
Christmas came early for me this year.
Welp, until next time boys.
You did good bringing out the hippie in me.
-K
p.s.
The Expendables play in Austin on Nov. 27th. Anyone down?

22 for 22?

So I know many girls are doing the 30 for 30 challenge, well Im not up for the challenge just yet.
I'll start it when i actually get around to doing my laundry and viewing all my options.
Instead I am going to do my own little remix of this idea.
I'm doing 22 for 22.
Below are a list of 22 things I want to experience over the next year of being 22!
I guess it's the same thing as a bucket list but eh whatevs.
It'll give me something to blog about each time I accomplish one of these things.

1. Go on a spring break trip with my friends.
So girls let's start planning this week. As in yesterday.
2. Go to a concert on a school night (includes Monday-Wednesday).
3. Learn how to cook...better.
4. Grow my hair out longer, I'm hoping I can get it about six to eight inches past my shoulders.
5. Give up Dr.Pepper. Yes, I know, i'm losing my mind but I really do need to get healthier and I can start with this step.
6. Speaking of getting healthier, I want to enter in a half marathon within the next year. I would really feel like I accomplished something if I did.
7. Get into Grad School!
8. Go Skydiving.
9. Plant a flower and keep it alive. This is actually rather difficult for me. Which flowers are easy to keep alive? I refuse to resort to a weed.
10. Read a new book. An actual adult chapter book. That isn't required for school.
11. Take a trip to lubbock to visit Carly.
Who wouldn't want to visit this little dude?
12. Get a pet. Not sure whether it will be a dog or a fish, but either is fine.
13. Get good at snowboarding this year. Or at least decent for a girl.
14. Register to vote. I know, I'm a bad citizen and REALLLY need to get on this. I've always wanted to wear one of those"I voted" stickers.
15. Complete the 30 for 30 challenge.
If you do not know what this is click this. Her name is Sydney and she is simply amazing.
16. Shoot a gun. Yes, I know this is random. And it also proves I am from Texas, but I want to learn to shoot a gun. I've shot a crossbow before and a paintball gun but those don't count when it comes to true firearms. I just think it'd be fun to know how. I guess it is also sad that I am from Texas and I have never shot a gun before too.
17. Learn to knit. I am so inspired by Kristen in her knitting talents! Look her up on her and Allison's blog here. You will fall in love with them!
18. Go camping! And make s'mores while camping! mmmm sounds like heaven :)
Although preferably when it's not burning hot and pouring rain outside.
Been there. Done that. No bueno.
19. Make a 4.0 my last semester of college. Cause there's no hope for this semester...sorry mom.
20. Sweep in Sing Song! (which means BEAT THE SIGGIES!) Sorry EOX's.
Unless your from ACU, you won't understand.
I'll admit it's weird, but I love it.
21. Learn a new dance.
22. Go to Midnight Rodeo with my girls. You know who you are!
And yes before we graduate we are doing this!

So here it is, my list of things to do over the next year.
If any of you have any suggestions on how to accomplish some of them PLEASE comment!
I'm so excited for what this next year holds and I'm determined to make 22 one of the best years of my life. Because let's face it. People say the fun starts dwindling down after 21. Well thats false.
You are really dumb if you believe that.
And I am going to prove you wrong :)
Have a blessed day!

Best Birthday Weekend Ever!

So this past Thursday I turned 22. Gah I feel old! (I know many of you think I'm crazy and are gonna hate me for that statement so sorry!) But it's the truth. These last 5 years of my life have literally flown by. Anyways, I had such a fabulous weekend to celebrate this new found age!
I started off my birthday at 12:00 a.m. thursday morning by watching Toy Story 3 with my roommate, Lauren.
If any of you haven't seen it YOU MUST! It's great! Although for those of you who are emotional, bring tissues :-) Then the next morning I woke up to this precious sign made by my other roommate, Stacy!
Isn't she amazing?
It really made my morning! I also got picked up at 7:00 a.m. by one of my best friends Alex Scheu, for breakfast. He took me to 5 AM donuts and treated me to kolaches and OJ. If any of you have not been there, it is AMAZING!! BEST KOLACHES IN THE NATION!
SERIOUSLY! You will not be disappointed.
So yes by this point I was on top of the world. I was having a fabulous day! Later on I got the most awesome surprise from my boyfriend, Geren. He really outdid himself for my birthday and he made me feel so special. Aren't guys who treat you on your birthday so great? lol
Luckily he is great for so many other reasons too! I got lucky with him :)
Anyways, I came home from a long day and these had been delivered.
I love love love love love flowers!
When I called to thank him, his response was "They are lilies right? cause I ordered the most hypoallergenic flowers available." He even remembered my allergies. God Bless Him!
I almost loved his response more than the flowers.
Later he surprised me with the best sweater from Urban Outfitters (my favorite store ever) and a bottle of my perfume! I was in shock with how generous and thoughtful he was.
Especially since we live 5 hours away from each other!
I know, it impressed me too.
For my birthday night I spent an amazing dinner and night out with my fabulous friends!
Me and Jeffry
I love my roomie Lauren! Sorry she wasn't quite ready, but i love candids!
Ems, Sarah, and Meg
Lacy, Me and Lauren
Me and Alex aka Shoe
Now Single Ladies, This right here is a catch! He is one of my best friends and he is one of the most reliable and caring individuals I have ever met. If you want a date just comment below :) I'll set you up He knows how to take you on a great breakfast!
hahaha jk Shoe...
but seriously...

I think the only negative thing about my birthday was that I tripped and broke my flip flop...Clumsy is my middle name. Guess I'll just have to buys some new ones. Shucks! (verrrryyy exaggerated) haha
I owe my whole night to this precious girl! Lacy I love you and am so blessed by you! You have a heart of gold and you sure know how to plan a birthday! Your amazing and I am so grateful for you.
"Cause we're the two best friends that anyone could have"
So that was Thursday...

Friday I headed home and started my weekend off with my family.
My mom bribed me to come home with oreo pie.
I can NEVER say no to oreo pie. Plus it's a tradition. She has made it for every one of my birthdays since I can remember. She really is an amazing mom!
There is just something about being with your family on your birthday that really makes you feel so loved! I love you so much Mama, Daddy and Kirb!
My brother is  also single, but he is only 14. Sorry girls. I'm kinda protective.
Then on Saturday I can not even begin to explain what a great day I had! I got to spend it with Geren and absolutely loved every minute of it!
We got the privilege to go see a friend get married. It was so great seeing old friends and spending time with Geren and his family.
I also got to see one of my loves in life, my friend and sister Heather!! YAY!!!
Then after the wedding I went with Geren and his family to the Stoney Larue concert!
It was so much fun and a fabulous way to end my birthday weekend!
Nothing wins a girl like me over better than a good concert.
Yes ladies, He is taken. Sorry I plead guilty to this and I'm not letting this one go.
He's too good to pass up :-)

I am praying that this next year slows down a little cause I am no way ready for 23 to come. I can not wait to see what 22 has in store for me! I am so blessed by all my friends and family and honestly can not see how next year's birthday could top this.
Thank you so much to everyone who made my birthday so special! I love you all!
